DESCRIPTION:This two-hour program briefly introduces Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) concepts\, techniques\, and resources. It is designed for people who are novices to this discipline but who possess basic computer skills. No programming or computer security background is required. Some topics included in this program are: \nTopics: \n• A brief look at the origins of OSINT approaches and how they compare to traditional intelligence and investigative techniques\n• Basic OSINT terminology and concepts\n• Understanding online privacy and security\n• Legal issues surrounding open-source information gathering\n• Basics of effective OSINT search techniques\n• Using social media in OSINT search techniques\n• Specialty OSINT tools and services (Maitego\, Shodan\, Spiderfoot\, Copyseeker\, etc.)\n• Social engineering in OSINT\n• Resources and next steps \nWHO SHOULD ATTEND? \nThose interested in understanding how OSINT tools and techniques can be used to locate information about people\, organizations\, businesses\, and for other investigative purposes. \nTRAINER: \nJoe P. Legander III was formally trained in intelligence gathering and interpretation techniques at some of the top military schools in the nation\, including the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center and Goodfellow Air Force Base. He served as an intelligence analyst and translator in the United States Marine Corps throughout the Central American and Caribbean areas of operation and developed award-winning early cryptographic software using concepts and approaches still in use today.
